5 British Comedy Award nominations for 2013... December 2013

Graham Norton and Sarah Millican mount a So Television domination of this year's British Comedy Awards.  

Graham Norton has been nominated in the King of Comedy, Best Comedy Entertainment Show and Best Comedy Entertainment Personality categories.

Sarah Millican has been nominated in the Queen of Comedy and Best Female Television Comic category.

The Awards show broadcasts live on Thursday 12th December at 9pm on Channel 4.

So Many Nominations...April 2013

The nominations for the 2013 BAFTA Television Awards have been announced and So Television has three of them.  The Graham Norton Show is up for Best Entertainment Programme while in the Entertainment Performance award So Television has an astonishing 50% of the field.  Both Graham Norton and Sarah Millican have been nominated along with Alan Carr and Ant & Dec.  The awards ceremony takes place on Sunday 12th May at the Royal Festival Hall.

 

 

 

 

 

Big Ask a Second Time...February 2013

A second series of Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask begins transmission on Dave from February 2013. The run starts with a compilation of Series 1 followed by 6 new episodes and a compilation of Series 2.


 

 

Much More Millican...December 2012

The BBC has announced that it wants to commission a 3rd series of The Sarah Millican Television Programme before the second series has gone to air. Series 2 is currently in production and will start transmitting in January 2013. Series 3 will be recorded at Media City in Salford in June 2013 for an Autumn transmission.

The Sarah Millican Television Programme is produced by So Scotland and Chopsy Productions.


 

 

Trio of nominations for Graham Norton...November 2012

Graham has been nominated for King/Queen of Comedy, Best Comedy Entertainment Programme and Comedy Entertainment Personality in the 2012 British Comedy Awards which will be broadcast live on Channel 4 on 14th December.

So Television bought by ITV studios...September 2012

So Television has been bought by ITV Studios in a £17m deal. Denise O'Donoghue, Managing Director, ITV Studios UK said, "So Television is known for its creative rigour and intense quality-control across its programming, whether that is its crown jewel, The Graham Norton Show, or its newer but no less brilliant The Sarah Millican Television Programme. Its programming presence on other channels is strategically terrific for ITV Studios, which has increased its output this year with new shows across the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky. I am really looking forward to having So as part of ITV Studios, working with Graham Stuart and his team to add even more value to this dynamic and successful production company.”

Bafta number two in a row for Graham...May 2012
Graham Norton won his second successive BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance last night.  The multi-award winning talk show host was not at the Royal Festival Hall to pick up the award for his work on the Graham Norton Show because he was still travelling back from the Eurovision contest in Azerbaijan on Saturday night. 

 

 

Norton Nomination...May 2012
Graham Norton has been nominated (again) for a Bafta in the category of Best Entertainment Performance, an award he picked up last year at the glittering ceremony.  He faces tough competition from Alan Carr, Dara O’ Briain and Harry Hill when the award is announced on Sunday 27 May.
 

 

 

Even More Millican...April 2012
The Sarah Millican Television Programme has been re-commissioned by BBC2 controller Janice Hadlow.  She has ordered a new series of six episodes to transmit from the beginning of January plus a Christmas special at the end of this year.  This series will again be a co -production with So Scotland and Millican’s Chopsy Productions.

In her brand new comedy series, award winning comedian Sarah Millican talks television this Thursday 8 March on BBC2 at 10pm.  Sarah combines brilliant stand up inspired by what she has seen on screen and unique interviews with television people who have impressed her. 

The first episode features Sarah talking about wildlife and dating programmes through meeting naturalist Chris Packham from Spring Watch and Sexpert Tracey Cox.

Future episodes will star: distinguished actor Simon Callow,  fashion designer Julian MacDonald,  sports television presenter Clare Balding and star of Downton Abbey Phyllis Logan.


Norton nominated...February 2012
The Graham Norton Show has been nominated in the Best Entertainment category for the 2012 RTS Awards.  The BBC1 Friday night talkfest is up against Million Pound Drop and Derren Brown.  The Awards will be presented on Tuesday 20 March at a glittering ceremony in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

The first series of So Television's panel series, 'Alexander Armstrong's Big Ask' premieres on the Dave channel on Monday 6 February at 9pm. The first episode features Graham Norton, Sandi Toksvig and Marcus Brigstocke who do all the work as they not only answer questions but make them up too. Future episodes will star: Jimmy Carr, Clive Anderson, Mark Watson, Robert Webb and Russell Kane.

So Radio has been commissioned to produce a second series of Don't Make Me Laugh, created and hosted by David Baddiel.  This is a show in which comedians go against their natural instincts and try not to make an audience laugh.

The Graham Norton Show has won the award for best Panel, Quiz or Chat show at the 11th annual Televisual Bulldog Awards in a ceremony held at The Hospital Club in London’s Covent Garden on Thursday 25th June.

 

The awards are voted for by the readers of Televisual Magazine and pick out the best UK programmes and Indies of the previous year.  This is the third consecutive win for the show.

Double BAFTA Nominations...

Graham Norton has picked up two nominations in this year’s BAFTA awards. Graham, who will also host the ceremony on Awards night, adds to his seven previous nominations in the Entertainment Performance category for The Graham Norton Show. The show also picks up a nomination in the Comedy Entertainment Programme category.  The ceremony will be held at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on Sunday 10 May and will be broadcast on BBC One.

The Edinburgh TV awards are held as part of the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival and celebrate the creative, innovative and commercial solutions that broadcasters and production companies have presented to the British public in the last year. 

 

 



Multiple BAFTA recognition ... April 2014

So Television has been nominated three times in this year's BAFTA Television Awards and once in the BAFTA Craft & Design Awards.  Graham Norton who is hosting the Television Awards show is nominated in the Best Entertainment Performance category and The Graham Norton Show is up for a Comedy Entertainment award.  Sarah Millican is also nominated for the Best Entertainment Performance, giving So Television 50% of the nominations.

Meanwhile Steve Smith, director of The Graham Norton Show, receives a well-deserved nomination for his multi-camera direction in the BAFTA Craft & Design Awards.

The BAFTA Craft & Design Awards are held on 27th April 2014 and the BAFTA Television Awards are held on 18th May 2014.

Bafta number two in a row for Graham...May 2012
Graham Norton won his second successive BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance last night.  The multi-award winning talk show host was not at the Royal Festival Hall to pick up the award for his work on the Graham Norton Show because he was still travelling back from the Eurovision contest in Azerbaijan on Saturday night. 

 

 

Norton Nomination...May 2012
Graham Norton has been nominated (again) for a Bafta in the category of Best Entertainment Performance, an award he picked up last year at the glittering ceremony.  He faces tough competition from Alan Carr, Dara O’ Briain and Harry Hill when the award is announced on Sunday 27 May.
 

 

 

Even More Millican...April 2012
The Sarah Millican Television Programme has been re-commissioned by BBC2 controller Janice Hadlow.  She has ordered a new series of six episodes to transmit from the beginning of January plus a Christmas special at the end of this year.  This series will again be a co -production with So Scotland and Millican’s Chopsy Productions.

In her brand new comedy series, award winning comedian Sarah Millican talks television this Thursday 8 March on BBC2 at 10pm.  Sarah combines brilliant stand up inspired by what she has seen on screen and unique interviews with television people who have impressed her. 

The first episode features Sarah talking about wildlife and dating programmes through meeting naturalist Chris Packham from Spring Watch and Sexpert Tracey Cox.

Future episodes will star: distinguished actor Simon Callow,  fashion designer Julian MacDonald,  sports television presenter Clare Balding and star of Downton Abbey Phyllis Logan.


Norton nominated...February 2012
The Graham Norton Show has been nominated in the Best Entertainment category for the 2012 RTS Awards.  The BBC1 Friday night talkfest is up against Million Pound Drop and Derren Brown.  The Awards will be presented on Tuesday 20 March at a glittering ceremony in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

The first series of So Television's panel series, 'Alexander Armstrong's Big Ask' premieres on the Dave channel on Monday 6 February at 9pm. The first episode features Graham Norton, Sandi Toksvig and Marcus Brigstocke who do all the work as they not only answer questions but make them up too. Future episodes will star: Jimmy Carr, Clive Anderson, Mark Watson, Robert Webb and Russell Kane.
 
 

 

 


National Norton...January 2012
The Graham Norton show was nominated in The Best Talk Show category at the 2012 National Television Awards which were held in London's O2 arena. The Norton talk-fest was up against Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and assorted Loose Women. It was C4's Mr Carr who went home with the prize. But it's not the winning...
